The Food Safety, Quality and Hygiene Supervisor ensures that SimpliFine Produce operations comply with all relevant food safety standards and codes and oversees the food safety management system; supervises quality assurance staff and oversees processes involved in the prevention of faults in manufactured products and solutions; motivates and guides the team responsible for the cleanliness of the production departments equipment and facility.S/he is responsible for ensuring that the risk of microbiological, physical and chemical contamination to food is optimally controlled through the development and execution of a deep cleaning plan that is targeted at risk management.
Primary Responsibilities And Duties
Ensuring that all business processes and procedures comply with all set standards and specifications.
Keeping the food safety program up-to-date and ensuring all staff know how and when to manage records.
Performing checks on the business for any breaches of food safety.
Identifying any potential food safety hazards and putting control measures in place to prevent them.
Ensuring all staff receive the proper training on the correct food safety practices.
Handling any issues of noncompliance when they arise including leading all mock and actual product recalls, and ensuring that the recall team are fully trained, actively monitoring for system performance and conducting the debrief exercise to share feedback with the HACCP recall team
Acting as a point of contact for all food handlers in the business, as well as food safety authorities
Supervising and directing quality assurance staff who are responsible for enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices and other quality-related policies in order to meet product quality standards.
Reviewing Production Batch Records and other manufacturing-related documents to verify compliance and record keeping for all mandated manufacturing processes, quality checks, testing, sampling, and sanitation activities.
Auditing quality control of raw materials, packaging components, labels, and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications and regulatory standards.
Following up with implemented programs (GMPs, Good Hygiene Practices, HACCP, Halaal, Allergen Control, FSSC 22001, Cleaning and Sanitation, Pest Control, Equipment Calibration, etc.) to ensure compliance by all employees and other personnel in the manufacturing facility.
Assisting in the coordination of testing results involving finished products, raw materials, and packaging components and the appropriate release and hold programs associated with these materials.
Overseeing the “On Hold” product program, including the status, release, and destruction of “Rejected” products.
Assisting in investigating and correcting quality-related issues (including customer complaints) through collaboration with other departments.
Making proactive recommendations and offering/presenting solutions to management to improve quality and work efficiency.
Assisting in the implementation of policies, operating procedures, quality systems and programs which ensure proper testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support in order to meet product quality standards.
Participating in all regulatory, third party and customer audits and inspections, and corrective action response.
Ensuring good performance by quality assurance staff by mentoring, training, setting expectations, providing accountability, and performing evaluations.
Maintaining a fair and professional work environment that focuses the business objectives, but also balances quality of work-life factors for employees.
Attending and participating in all appropriate meetings.
Performing other relevant duties as directed by management.
Advising food handlers on the proper food handling practices and ensure their observance.
Conducting daily checks on personal, environmental and food hygiene conditions and keeping relevant records.
Ensuring that all processes and documentations are in place, deployed and maintained to check for visitor health and travel history, including temperature recording for fever, as well as ensuring that a decision matrix is in place to ensure that the security team are adequately trained
Managing all planned and spot-check visits by government or accrediting institutes and customers and ensuring that their specific requirements are met
Requirements
At least five (5) years of relevant experience in working in a food manufacturing environment;
Demonstrated capacity to successfully manage food safety, quality and hygiene on a large food processing site;
A Bachelor degree in Food Science or related field microbiological science or higher
Previous experience in food safety recalls
Experience in food safety and quality accreditations such as ISO9001, FSSC22001 and BRC
