In a statement on Thursday, its owner Elon Musk said the calling features will work on iOS, Android, Mac, and PC.
He added that no phone number will be needed.
“Video & audio calls coming to X: Works on iOS, Android, Mac & PC. No phone number needed – X is the effective global address book,” he said.
He, however, did not mention when the features will be available in the app.
Since buying Twitter, Elon Musk has made significant changes to the company as well as the app itself, from charging for features to killing off the bird logo.
Musk on July 24, ditched the blue bird logo on its website for an X as part of a wider rebranding of the company formerly known as Twitter.
The social media network’s site now shows the company’s new logo: a white X on a black background.
