A Wajir court has sentenced a 26-year-old man to life in prison for defiling a 7-year-old girl.
According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPPKE), the incident occurred in September 2022.
According to Principal Magistrate Roselyn Aganyo, it had been proven in court beyond doubt that Barris Billow had committed the crime.
Aganyo stated in her ruling that she had taken note of the prevalent cases of defilement, thus the need to sentence the accused to prison.
""The accused was a danger to the community, and a harsher sentence would keep him from society", the court ruled.
