Veteran Bongo Flava star Rehema Chalamila, popularly known as Ray C, has become a mother for the first time.
In a social media post that has since attracted massive reaction from her fellow celebrities and fans, Ray C on Monday revealed that she has been blessed with a baby, whom she named Shahrukh.
"Naitwa Mama Shahrukh," the songstress captioned the photo of her newborn.
The news came a week after Ray C revealed she is expecting, having moved to France with her partner two years ago.
At the time, the news of her expectancy was also received with ecstasy, with a battalion of admirers congratulating her for finally embracing parenthood.
Among those celebrating the singer's bundle of joy were Kenya's Nameless and Bongo Flava singer LavaLava.
"Alaaaar... Hongera my sister!" Nameless said.
Ray C rose to fame in early 2000, putting Tanzanian music on the global map before the current crop of singers like Diamond Platnumz and Nandy took over.
She earned the admiration of many, from fans to fellow celebrities and politicians.
However, her career took a nose dive when she sank into drug addiction. The situation was so dire that former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete took her to rehabilitation in a bid to resuscitate her career.
Ray C healed, tried to hit the road back to stardom but things were not the same again.
She met her Caucasian boyfriend with whom they relocated to Europe where they live.
