Uganda will host the 2023 Confederation of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) women's Champions League zonal qualifiers with dates to be confirmed later.

This is the first time Uganda will be hosting the regional championship.

Uganda's Kampala Queens have already booked their ticket while Kenyan representatives are yet to be known with the league ongoing.

Vihiga Queens and Gaspo Women are the front runners for the sole slot reserved for the country.

Kenya hosted the inaugural tournament in 2021 as Vihiga, four-time Kenya Women's Premier League champions, stormed to the finals.

The Legacy Makers beat Commercial Bank of Ethiopia 2-1 in the final on September 9 at the Moi Stadium, Kasarani courtesy of a brace from Jentrix Shikangwa.

The win earned Vihiga a ticket to the continental CAF Women Champions League that was hosted by Egypt in November of the same year. Vihiga managed one win in Eygpt.

Last year, Tanzania hosted the tournament where Simba Queens carried the region's ticket to the main event. Kenya was unable to field a team for the regional assignment due to Kenya's suspension by  Fifa.

In February 2022, world football's governing body suspended the FKF, citing government interference after authorities shut down the organisation last year over allegations of corruption.

In November, Fifa said it had "decided to lift the suspension of the FKF with immediate effect."
