Two people were on Monday, April 3, morning killed at the Dagoretti Market Kiambu in a fight.
One of the deceased was stabbed to death while the alleged assailant was stoned to death by an angry mob.
Police and witnesses said the murder suspect was stoned to death by angry traders at the busy market after he had stabbed a night guard who was stopping him from stealing scrap metals in one of the garages he was guarding.
The suspect reportedly ambushed the security guard and stabbed him in the back, killing him on the spot.
A mob, in turn, cornered the suspect and stoned him to death.
The traders say that the suspect had become notorious in the area, as he used to commit crimes while disguising himself as a person suffering from mental illness.
Kikuyu police boss Ronald Kirui said police have launched investigations into the incident.
The bodies were moved to the mortuary.
Elsewhere, one person was killed and several others were injured following a stampede during the issuance of bursary forms at Githurai 45 in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
Police and witnesses said the deceased was pushed to the ground when tens of applicants started fighting over who should be served first.
Three other women were also injured and rushed to a nearby hospital, police said.
James Atanga, a 45-year-old father of two, was rushed to a nearby hospital but transferred to Kenyatta University Teaching, Research and Referral Hospital for advanced treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His wife Pamela Munyangi said her husband left early in the morning to go and collect a bursary form for their child who is in Form Four.
Ruiru Member of Parliament Simon King’ara, who was personally issuing the forms, had over the last week requested needy area residents to turn up in numbers to grab the limited chances.
