A stepfather has been charged with defiling a minor, contrary to section 20(I) of the sexual offences act 2006.

P M was charged at the Kibera law court on Wednesday, where he denied the charges and pleaded for a lenient bond term.

The accused person is said to have committed the offence on February 4, 2023, in the Lindi area, Kibra subcounty within Nairobi county.

He was charged with the second count of committing an indecent act with the child contrary to the sexual offences act.

The court heard that the accused person kissed the girl and accidentally caused her serious injuries on the lips.

The injury was the key sign that made her mother know that all was not well.

The girl had been left at home with her brother when her father came back that morning.

The court heard that the accused person defiled her when her mother had gone to work. The accused person is said to have prepared breakfast for two kids and the boy left the house immediately after taking his.

The court heard that because the girl was close to the man, they proceeded to sleep on the bed where the accused grabbed and kissed her biting her lips.

The mother came back and upon interrogating her on the injuries she told her how the accused person defiled her.

The report was made to the police and the accused person was arrested and charged in court.

He was released on a bond of Sh800, 000 with a surety of the same amount.

The court directed that the matter be mentioned on February 7 for a pre-trial.
