Shabana tactician Sammy Okoth has backed his side to shrug off their recent struggles as they bid to clinch the title this season and subsequently seal promotion to the top flight.
The Gusii Stadium-based side has struggled to replicate their high-flying start to the season after enduring back-to-back defeats against Kibera Black Stars and bitter rivals Gusii, capped by their barren stalemate against Migori Youth on Saturday.
Okoth is adamant that his charges have what it takes to sustain a title challenge despite their recent slump.
While analyzing their failure to come out on top in their tie against Migori Youth on Saturday at the Migori Stadium, Okoth faulted the derby environment that unsettled his players throughout the game.
“Our matches against Migori are never easy, especially when we are playing away. The fans played their part in unsettling us as we could not express ourselves as we would have wished.”
He, however, lauded their ability to collect a result in a challenging environment, terming it as a spark that will propel his stable to regain their mojo as they go all the way this season.
“Our results have not been good in the past two weeks, and I feel such a result will propel us into rediscovering our best form.
“I completely trust the players to get us going again after our recent travails.”
He has rallied his players to be at their best when they host seventh-placed Darajani Gogo next weekend as they aim for a solid finish to the first half of the season.
This season’s debutants have staged an impressive start to life in the second-tier league by winning four and drawing three of their opening nine outings this term, a feat that poises them up nicely for a big battle against the league leaders.
“Our next match will be at home, and we will be ready to return to winning ways.
“We understand and appreciate what they have achieved despite this being their first season in the NSL. We will work hard to collect a win from our encounter with them.
The glamour boys lead the NSL log after garnering 25 points from their opening 11 matches of the 2022/23 season.
