At least 22 families have been left homeless after their houses were razed down in Nakuru County.
The affected families hail from Kiptenden Sirikwa Ward in Kuresoi North.
The incident saw 30 units burnt down. Locals told Citizen Digital that 8 units were rented out for business and the rest to tenants.
Locals rushed to the scene in a bid to put out the fire. A fire engine from the county government arrived moments after the fire broke out.
“Nothing was salvaged. We tried our level best but we lost everything to the fire,” Bernard Yegon, the owner of the plot, said.
Residents and affected traders have appealed for help from well-wishers.
“My business premises was reduced to ashes. I now have to start afresh,” a trader said.
