Nakuru City Queens team manager Benard Esitoko has said victory against Thika Queens in the Kenya Women's Premier League match on April 8 will be a confidence booster in the team's quest for a first league title.

Nakuru, who are in their third season in the top-tier, currently sit third with 27 points in the 12-team league. They are four points behind leaders Gaspo Women who are top by virtue of superior goal difference against second-placed Vihiga Queens.

Esitoko said revenge could be on the cards after his charges lost the first leg. Nakuru are yet to lose a match at home this season according to Esitoko, a record they want to extend this weekend.

"We are going for nothing short of maximum points," Esitoko said.

"The defeat at Thika was painful but I think the players are ready to atone for the loss. The players are in buoyant mood and ready to play.

"Our home record needs to remain intact. The only advantage for Nakuru is that Vihiga and Wadadia (teams we lost against in the first leg), will be coming to the ASK grounds."

The 2022/23 title race looks unpredictable with the top five teams all capable of winning. Esitoko added that they need to take advantage of that to go all the way.

"We have the capacity to win this season's league. It just calls for a tough mentality and putting together a good run in the remaining matches."
