An MLS player has been playing in an amateur league after being frustrated with his game-time - but was caught out after being banned.
Matko Miljevic, a former Boca Juniors academy player, signed a three-year contract with CF Montreal in 2021 but has only played 35 times for the club.
The United States Under 20 international has just two goals and two assists in a Montreal shirt and hasn't even managed 1000 minutes on the pitch.This season he's played just eight times but at the same time, he's been turning out for Rage in the amateur league QCSL (Ligue Quebecoise de Soccer Calcetto) under a fake name.
Ex Argentinos Juniors star Miljevic scored six goals and assisted a further two goals across three games - winning the Man of the Match award in one.
Miljevic, who was invited to play by a close friend, breached his half-a million-a-year contract with the Canadian club but had managed to keep his appearances on the synthetic turf in on Tuesdays Laval under wraps.However, as per DansLesCoulisses, via MARCA, QCSL officials found out and he was told to use his real alias if he wished to keep playing.He elected against doing so and his team did not reach the play-offs, but Miljevic is said to have been present at another game supporting his pal and alleged to have spat at an opposition player.
After being insulted in Spanish, Miljevic is reported to have struck the opponent in the face. Miljevic was ejected from the complex, with the officials abandoning the game.The individual in question is deliberating pressing charges and a source commented on the situation, saying: "He's not welcome here anymore. It wasn't just this incident. He's had past run-ins in the league."
