Mara Sugar returned to winning ways after a comfortable 2-0 win over Kibera Black Stars at Awendo Green Stadium in Migori County.
James Olweny gave the millers the lead in the 22nd minute while Philemon Nyakwaka wrapped up the scores in the 66th minute.
Coach Francis Xavier said: “The best team won today. We dominated throughout and it’s a game we would have won by many goals."
He added: “The boys did not make the mistake of underrating Kibera Black Stars as they did during the Migori Youth game which cost us two points. The progression from the game against Migori to today’s game was good.”
He said he has now turned his attention to this weekend's clash against Silibwet, who suffered a 6-0 humbling by Naivas FC on Saturday.
During the game, Mara Sugar missed the services of captain Mohammed Baraza and Eric Ng’iela who were injured.
At Hope Centre, Mathare United piled more misery on Darajani Gogo after edging them 2-0. Parmeneas Ocholla and Elli Asieche scored for Mathare United.
Mulembe FC, formerly Vihiga United beat Mully Children’s Home 2-1 at Mumias Sports Complex. Godrick Kaduka and Kendrick Onzere scored for the hosts while Rama Omwambura scored MCF’s consolation.
Newcomers Rainbow FC and Luanda Villa played to a 1-1 draw. At Moi Stadium in Kisumu, hosts Kisumu All Stars beat Migori Youth 2-0.
On Saturday, Vihiga Bullets ended Kajiado’s unbeaten run with a 2-0 margin while Mombasa Stars drubbed SS Assad 3-0 in a coast derby. Dimba Patriots overcame Mombasa Elite 2-0 in Kajiado.
