Liverpool could end up making two midfield additions to their squad on deadline day, according to reports.
The Reds have already agreed a £34.2 million deal with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich for midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who is currently on Merseyside for a medical.
He is expected to pen a five-year deal at the Premier League club as they look to replace Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain following their departures this summer.
As well as the imminent arrival of Gravenberch, it has emerged that Jurgen Klopp could add more firepower to his midfield with the addition of highly-rated England youth international Dan Neil.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who has been one of Sunderland's standout performers in the Championship this season, is also being tracked by Crystal Palace, Brentford and Burnley, according to Football Insider.
But after monitoring the player for the past 12 months, it appears Liverpool could make a late move with hours remaining of this summer's transfer window.Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Neil in recent times, according to The Telegraph's Mike McGrath, who also confirms that 'multiple' Premier League clubs are chasing the talented midfielder.
Burnley have already had a loan plus obligation bid rejected by Sunderland for the player but Vincent Kompany's side are already weighing up another offer, which could force Liverpool to move quickly.
Neil, who made 47 appearances for Sunderland last season, has impressed in the opening weeks of the Championship campaign, notching a goal and an assist in four games.
He's made 110 first-team appearances for The Black Cats in total and is seen as a future Sunderland captain.Neil penned a three-year deal with his boyhood club in March before helping Sunderland achieve promotion to England's second tier.Speaking after signing the new deal, he said: "I’m excited to be extending my time here – I’ve really enjoyed myself so far and I feel like I’m learning and developing, which is what I want at my age having broken into the first team.
"All my family are Sunderland fans, so I have immense pride playing for the Club. I always said I wanted to try and help this Club get back to where it belongs and signing this contract will give me an opportunity to help do that.”
