Kyle Walker was the fastest player in the Premier League last season but he doesn't take the top spot in the opening weekend of the new season.
Walker is one of the quickest in world football and his recovery pace has proved to be a vital weapon for Manchester City ever since he made the £50 million move from Spurs in 2017.
Last season, the 33-year-old clocked in at a ridiculous 37.31 km/h and is also said to have ran over 23mph in training.
However, the England right-back is only fifth in the most recent list, compiled using data from Stats Perform and via the Daily Mail.Instead, Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon takes the top spot by a considerable distance after his sprint in the 5-1 thumping of Aston Villa at the weekend.
Gordon, who assisted the opener for debutant Sandro Tonali, boasted a top speed of 22.14 miles. Newcastle destroyed Villa on the counter-attack, with the Everton man getting plenty of joy on the left flank. The second spot went to Burnley centre-back Ameen Al-Dakhil, who was making his Premier League debut in the 3-0 defeat to champions Manchester City on Friday.Wolves' winger Pedro Neto had a lively game despite Gary O'Neil's side suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford and he came in third.
Meanwhile, Anthony Elanga marked his Nottingham Forest with a debut assist in the 2-1 loss to Arsenal on Saturday. The Swede darted away on the counter attack before squaring for Taiwo Awoniyi's consolation strike and he was the fourth-fastest player.
Walker came in at 21.53mph - just behind his very best effort in the whole of City's 2022/23 treble-winning campaign. Gordon was in fourth last term, with Mykhailo Mudryk, Darwin Nunez and Brennan Johnson also among the fastest.
