The second edition of the Kenya Amatuer Golf Championship will see winners in different categories walk away with prize money.

The winner of the amateur game will walk away with Sh450,000 while the winner of the professional category will bag Sh200,000.

Speaking during the launch of the second edition of the annual Windsor Golf Classic, Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club captain Simo Dubajic said organisers were keen to reward all categories.

This is the first time amateur golfers are playing for prize money which is practical and exceptional situation that Kenya Golf Union and Windsor Golf club are trying to introduce and this year we have prize for different categories that is close to one million,” Simo said.

Amateur golfer Joyce Wanjiru of Kiambu Golf club was pleased with the initiative saying it is a big motivation to the players.

“This is a very good initiative that will motivate the players during and after the tournament because they get to use the money to sort out their needs we are very happy as players,”stated Wanjiru

The second round of the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship will feature players who will represent the country at the Magical Kenya Open at Muthaiga Golf Club from the 9th of March. They include Team Captain Dennis Maara(Limuru Country Club), John Lejirma(Railway Golf Club), Jay Sandhu(Royal Nairobi Golf Club), Njoroge Kibugu (Muthaiga Golf Club), Daniel Kiragu (Muthaiga Golf Club) and Adel Balala (Nyali Golf Club) something that has impressed professional golfer Riz Chariana.

The Windsor Golf Classic tees offs on Friday with the final taking place on Sunday 5th of March 2023.
