Speaking during the event, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority chairperson Brown Ondego has underscored Kenya’s regional leadership role in the aviation sector, hence the significance of hosting such an event whose outcome is expected to shape aviation in the region and beyond.
“Kenya, as a pivotal player in the African aviation landscape, takes immense pride in hosting this remarkable event. Our nation has witnessed substantial growth in its aviation sector, driven by strategic investments, regulatory reforms, and the dedication of all stakeholders involved, “he said.
Ondego has reiterated the significance of collaboration between government, industry players and communities in a bid to better the sector.
The AFI-Aviation Week will discuss the progress made in implementing ICAO Global and Regional Plans, follow-up on the outcomes of the 41st Session of the Assembly, the latest developments in all ICAO Strategic Objectives, key priorities, initiatives, and interventions to enhance aviation safety, security, and facilitation in the region.
On his part, Ministry of Roads and Transport Principal Secretary Mohamed Daghar opined that the government is keen on enhancing clean aviation in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
“We have taken a keen interest in environmental matters and will continue collaborating and working together with ICAO towards achievement of 2050 through capacity building, provision of enabling environment in development and deployment of SAF,” said Deghar.
The AFI Aviation Week brings together delegates from various ICAO contracting states from the Africa and Indian Ocean (AFI) region affiliated with the ICAO Eastern and Southern Africa (ESAF) and Western and Central African (WACAF) Regional Offices.
