Former Citizen TV journalist Janet Mbugua, thespian Kate Actress, NTV's Fridah Mwaka, and Instagram Influencer Carol Sonnie are among nominees in various categories at the Ladies in Media Awards (LIMA) 2022.
The award seeks to acknowledge, honor and celebrate Africa’s best female talent in the media who continue to have a positive impact in the media and the society at large.
It features 18 categories and more than 50 nominees from across the continent with the award gala set to be held in Ghana on March 25, 2023 with the nominees drawn from Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe and beyond.
The nomination list also features several celebrities and accomplished media personalities as listed on the Ladies in Media website.
The nominees will be banking on the support of the public, who can vote on the Ladies in Media website or by liking a preferred nominee’s picture on their Instagram page @ladiesinmediaaward.
Janet Mbugua has been nominated in the Outstanding Female Humanitarian of the Year category, Kate Actress in the Africa Female Actor of the Year, Lizz Ntonjira in the Africa Female Author of the Year, Frida Mwaka in the Outstanding News Anchor of the Year and Carol Soni in the Female Influencer of the Year categories.
The affable Janet Mbugua left mainstream media to focus on her Inua Dada initiative which aims at promoting the welfare of the disenfranchised girl child.
On her part, Kate Actress has seen her acting career grow exponentially - she has been featured on Netflix and was just recently appointed to a Kenyan creatives board headed by legendary comedian Mwalimu Churchill.
