In a bid to enhance the management and regulation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and petroleum businesses locally, the government has announced a nationwide registration exercise for such ventures.
The exercise, launched by the State Department of Internal Security in collaboration with the State Department for Petroleum, will take place from April 3 - 14, 2023.
In a joint statement issued by Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo and his Petroleum counterpart Mohammed Liban, the two government officials noted that the exercise will be conducted across all sub-counties and will involve the collection of data and information from all LPG and petroleum businesses.
"The registration will be conducted by National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) in collaboration with the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA)," read the joint statement in part.
"The exercise will help to ensure that all LPG and petroleum operators are compliant with safety regulations, thereby minimizing the risk of accidents and protecting the public."
Dr. Omollo and Liban likewise urged all LPG and petroleum businesses to partake in the drive within the said timeframe failure to which they will be declared non-operational once the exercise comes to a close.
