Former Red Devils midfielder Fred has confirmed Erik ten Hag's latest signing and jokingly warned him of the poor weather in Manchester.
Fred, 30, called time on a five-year career at Old Trafford earlier this month, joining Fenerbahce in a deal worth a reported €15 million (£12.8m).
He has enjoyed a bright start to life in Turkey, starting their last two matches and registering an assist during their resounding 5-1 win over Twente last Tuesday.
However, goalkeeper Altay Bayindir looks set to go in the opposite direction, with United keen on acquiring the 25-year-old goalkeeper's services.Fred, who appears to have become Ten Hag's secret agent in Turkey, confirmed Bayindir's move to Old Trafford during a press conference on Monday.
"I wished Altay [Bayindir] good luck when he left", he said (quotes via beIN Sports). "He is going to join a great team."
Fred then revealed he had given him some advice on where to live in Manchester and warned him of the poor weather.
"I suggested some neighbourhoods where he could live", he added. "I told him it was raining a lot. Altay will be very happy at Manchester United."
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Bayindir's move was imminent, tweeting that he 'spent the last three days in Manchester to complete medical tests.'The Turkey international will help solve Ten Hag's goalkeeping dilemma, with second-choice shot-stopper Dean Henderson reportedly on the verge of joining Crystal Palace this summer,
The 25-year-old is widely expected to replace Vincente Guaita at Selhurst Park after voicing his desire to play regular first-team football - a feat which looks unlikely with new signing Andre Onana currently ahead of him in the pecking order.
BBC journalist Simon Stone stated ahead of the Forest game: "I am expecting Dean Henderson to be on the bench for Manchester United this afternoon.
"It is likely to be his last involvement for United before joining Crystal Palace.
"Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is expected to move to United as Henderson's replacement."
Palace's sporting director Dougie Freedman was even in the stands at Old Trafford as the Eagles look to finalise the move, it has been claimed.
