Former Orlando Pirates star Kudakwashe Mahachi says he is ready to prove himself in Ghana where he has signed for Medeama Sporting Club after being on the sidelines since last year.
The career of the former SuperSport winger stalled as he was fighting court battles after his estranged wife accused him of having attempted to murder his four-year old son.
However, a court in Zimbabwe acquitted the former Warriors forward of all the charges last November bringing an end to his miseries.
Now, the gifted attacker told Medeama's website that he was determined to start from scratch, noting that his rich resume for clubs in South Africa and the national team counts for nothing in Ghana.
Mahachi said he faces competition for his position and needs to redouble his effort to keep up with the pressure of playing for the Ghana league champions.
“As you know, pressure is high because the team won the league last season, so we need to follow what they did last year,” he said.
“In every team, there is competition and as a player, you need to work hard to play. Nowadays names are not playing football. You need to work hard as a player.”
Medeama announced the signing of the Zimbabwean last year on a one-year contract, according to the club’s statement.
“Mahachi is an exciting and talented footballer who has wowed fans in the South African Premier Soccer League," the statement reads.
“He joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2014 after a breakthrough campaign at Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League side Highlanders. He spent a season on loan at Golden Arrows before being made permanent between 2016-2018.”
The 29-year-old Mahachi is capped 44 times and has scored five goals for Zimbabwe.
