Dolby Atmos arrives in the new, affordable China-exclusive Hyundai Elexio — marking a big shift in how premium audio reaches everyday drivers. Previously found only in luxury models like Mercedes-Benz and Lucid, Dolby’s 3D sound tech now enhances Hyundai’s budget-friendly Elexio EV, priced from just $16,800 to $21,000. This move brings cinematic sound to an entry-level SUV, setting a new standard for in-car entertainment in China.
Unlike luxury brands that reserve Atmos for premium packages, every Hyundai Elexio trim includes it as standard. The car features six built-in speakers, upgradeable to eight with an external amplifier, creating a surprisingly immersive audio experience. It’s not just about louder sound — Dolby Atmos in the Elexio spatially positions music, voices, and effects, wrapping drivers and passengers in rich, multi-dimensional soundscapes.
Hyundai partnered with streaming giants Kugou Music and iQIYI, letting users enjoy Dolby Atmos music, movies, and dramas directly inside the car. According to Dolby, the Elexio “transforms the cabin into an entertainment hub on wheels.” Whether it’s an upbeat playlist or an audio drama, this integration brings studio-quality sound into your daily commute.
The Hyundai Elexio’s Dolby Atmos rollout could signal the beginning of wider adoption beyond China. With more automakers looking to upgrade in-car entertainment, Atmos might soon become a mainstream feature — not just a luxury perk. While global availability hasn’t been confirmed yet, the Elexio shows that immersive sound is no longer reserved for high-end models.
