The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Amin Mohamed on Wednesday joined detectives at Redwood Apartments in Kasarani, where interior designer Geoffrey "Jeff" Mwathi mysteriously died in late February.
The boss and his sleuths were trying to reconstruct the scene of crime where young Jeff was reported as to have fallen to his death while visiting popular Kikuyu musician DJ Fatxo's house.
This, is ahead of the Friday exhumation of Mwathi's body to try and identify the gaps about the cause of his death.
"In the reconstruction, the DCI Headquarters Homicide team and Crime Scene personnel from the DCI National Forensic Laboratory sought to identify gaps that the exhumation is expected to provide answers once DNA and Toxicology analyses are concluded," the DCI said in a statement.
Mohamed wants investigations into the incident to be fast-tracked to determine whether there was any foul play in Ngugi's death.
On February 22, Ngugi allegedly fell from the 10th-floor window of the Redwood apartment belonging to DJ Fatxo, real name Lawrence Njuguna while he partied with his friends.
Reports indicate that Ngugi had met the entertainer hours earlier to hold discussions about an interior design gig that DJ Fatxo wanted him to undertake for a fee.
After wrapping up the business meeting, the pair then went out for drinks at four different clubs in and around Nairobi.
CCTV footage from the Redwood apartments captured Ngugi, DJ Fatxo, his driver and three unidentified women returning to the apartment at around 3 am.
According to a police report, a relative of the DJ's arrived at the residence some minutes later in a different vehicle.
The DJ was then captured leaving his apartment with the three women at around 4 am, while Ngugi stayed behind with the two other men.
CCTV footage would a few moments later capture Ngugi falling to his death.
