Former Manchester United player Ben Foster has revealed how Sir Alex Ferguson would have dealt with Jadon Sancho if he was still the manager.
After Arsenal sealed a late 3-1 victory of United at the Emirates on Sunday, Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag criticised Sancho during his post-match press conference.
When asked why Sancho was not selected, Ten Hag said: “Jadon was [absent] on his performance on the training.
“We didn't select him. You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices on the frontline, so for this game, he wasn't selected.”Sancho then reacted by putting out a statement of his own, in which he claimed Ten Hag’s comments were untrue.
He wrote: “Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.
“I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair!”
Speaking on The United Stand, former United goalkeeper Foster outlined what legendary manager Ferguson would have done.He said: “It’s absolutely crazy. If Alex Ferguson is the manager at this moment in time and Jadon Sancho does this, he will never see the light of day again for Man United.
“He will never play for this club, he’ll never be allowed in the training ground. You are done mate, see you later.”Foster added: “You are allowed to do that, but it is not going to help you. It’s petulant, it’s reactive, it’s emotional, it’s disrespectful.
“It just becomes a massive storm, it just becomes a massive storm of news so now everybody wants to know what is up with Jadon Sancho, what is up with Ten Hag, has Ten Hag already lost the dressing room, what were Jadon Sancho’s training sessions like this week.
“Jadon Sancho says it’s nothing to do with his training, he said he’s applied himself very well. That’s fantastic, you should be applying yourself very well, that is the minimum honestly.”
