Belkin is recalling its iPhone tracking stand and two power banks due to fire risks, affecting tens of thousands of users in the US and Canada. The recall comes after reports that the lithium-ion cells in these devices can overheat, posing a serious fire and burn hazard. If you own the Auto-Tracking Stand Pro or the 20,000mAh BoostCharge USB-C PD Power Banks, it’s crucial to stop using them immediately. Belkin is offering full refunds or store credit with a 20% bonus.
The recall affects the Auto-Tracking Stand Pro for iPhone (model MMA008) and two power banks: BoostCharge USB-C PD 20,000mAh (model BPB002) and (model PB0003). These devices were sold in the US and Canada through Belkin’s online store and major retailers like Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and Amazon. Check the model number printed on the bottom or sides of your device to confirm if it’s part of the recall.
Belkin issued the recall after identifying a manufacturing defect that could cause the products’ lithium-ion cells to overheat. While only one fire has been reported in the US, there are 15 international incidents including two minor burn injuries and nearly $38,000 in property damage. The company wants to prevent further harm and ensure customer safety.
Affected users can claim a full refund or store credit through Belkin’s recall program. Eligible buyers receive an extra 20% bonus on their store credit. Belkin recommends stopping use immediately and following the instructions on its official recall website to return the devices safely.
