KCB RFC scrumhalf Samuel Asati is among five new faces included in the Kenya Sevens squad for the Africa Cup/Olympic qualifiers slated for Harare, Zimbabwe this weekend.
Asati, who played for Kenya Under 20 and Simbas in the past two seasons, was in superb form during the National Sevens Circuit. He gets the nod as Kevin Wambua's charges aim for a third appearance at the Olympics in France come next year.
Other new faces in the squad include Nygel Amaitsa, Festus Shiasi, Patrick Odongo and William Muhanji.
Wambua has retained skipper Vincent Onyala, Tony Omondi, George Ooro, Brian Tanga and Kevin Wekesa from the squad that did duty as Shujaa were relegated from the World Seven series last season.
Kenya face Namibia, Zambia and Nigeria in Pool 'B'. Favorites. South Africa are in Pool 'A' where they take on Madagascar, Ivory Coast and Tunisia.
Pool 'C' will see hosts Zimbabwe take on Uganda, Algeria and Burkina Faso.
The winner of the tournament qualifies for the Paris Olympics while the runners-up heads to the repechage slated for June next year.
The top three teams from the tournament will then head to the Challenger Series to be played between February and May next year.
