The Resident Engineer will be responsible to for providing technical support to the Project Coordination Unit and supervision of construction work at the site. The successful candidate will ensure that the project adheres to all specifications, is completed on time, within budget, and meets the highest quality standards. The position will report to the Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Directing or participating in surveying to lay out installation and establish reference points, grades and elevations to guide construction, exercising control to ensure all activities are carried out as scheduled and within the cost and enable meet quality expectations.
- Supervising projects work, analysing test results and ensuring conformance to design specifications on a day-to-day basis.
- Analysis survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geological data for the plan project.
- Approval of works in consultation with the project manager and raising technical issues that require to be addressed.
- Review technical report from the consultant and participate in project design reviews.
- Manage health and safety of the workers and the public at the site.
- Generating reports and briefs for the project manager (weekly and monthly)
- Ensuring quality of the materials before approval for use on site
- Managing project records and documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
- A relevant post graduate qualification in structural engineering and experience in structural design will be an added advantage.
- Competent with use of standard design and construction management software.
- Be a registered member of the Engineers Board of Kenya.
- A minimum of ten (10) years professional experience in Civil Engineering including hospital construction project management.
